Many Moons by James Thurber

Many Moons is the story of a princess who wants the moon. The king's wise men want to get the moon before the court jester can obtain it and make them look stupid.

The Chamberlain

The Chamberlain was one of the wise men, each of which had a distinct look and shape. The Chamberlain was circular.

Making the shirt was fun because it was part of a repurposed Ancestor costume from a previous production of The Adams Family. I didn't have enough fabric, so I took the main part of the shirt and patched it up. I then added sleeves and the extension that fanned out over the pants. I was considering sleeves that only went to the elbow, as shown in many of these pictures from dress rehearsals, but decided to add forearm pieces before the show debuted.
The pants were the most challenging part of this costume as they were such a thick fabric that the pleats had to be mostly hand sewed. The pants were two layers. The outer layer as pictured and sweatpants sewn inside. The stuffing was held in between the two layers.
